If Walls Could Speak

This body of work explores the unidentifiable traces of a form of communication that predates instant virtual messaging. Handwritten paper messages on walls from around the world.

A universal language from places like Montreal, Toronto, Mexico, Iceland and Portugal reveal the ads and personal messages tapping into the needs, desires and quests of everyday people in search of the perfect match.

For me, these scratches and patches etched in pigment and paper on mineral grit, have the feel of enigmatic petroglyphs left behind by vanished archaic cultures, with the timeless apparitional quality of cave art.
